My story
I started writing many, many times.
My first popular series was a soap opera written in the back of my seventh-grade social studies notebook, but by eighth grade, I'd graduated to high fantasy and low puns. After graduating with a bachelor of journalism degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, I moved to Japan and started over with a new language.
I got serious about fiction again in 2007, and then wrote my first National Novel Writing Month novel in 2010. Studying with Jennifer Crusie in 2012 and 2013 earned me a Romance Writing Certificate from McDaniel College, and helped me start to turn that NaNo effort into The Djini and Ms. Jones, a full-length urban fantasy.
What's in the future? Major re-writing to turn my 2011 NaNo, An Asteroid Hit My Planet, into a coherent, fun YA adventure.
